Our Story

Welcome to our wedding website! We are so thrilled to celebrate our special day with our favorite people in a city that holds such a special place in our hearts.

Ecuador is an incredibly beautiful country, and Mateo has deep family roots here. We chose Cuenca, a UNESCO World Heritage city nestled in the Andes, for its cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, vibrant culture, and breathtaking mountain setting.

Tessa spent time living in Cuenca during a medical internship, and we're so excited to share this place that means so much to our story and can't wait for you to experience it with us.

Common Questions

Cuenca is a very walkable city, especially the Historic Center. For longer distances, taxis and Uber are safe, abundant, and very affordable. Most hotels can also arrange private transport for excursions.

Cuenca is known as the City of Eternal Spring. In May, expect mild temperatures between 50°F (10°C) and 70°F (21°C). It can be sunny in the mornings with occasional rain showers in the late afternoon. Layers are recommended.

Ecuador uses the US Dollar (USD). Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels and upscale restaurants, but it is always helpful to have some cash, especially small bills and coins, for taxis, tips, and local markets.

Cuenca sits at about 8,400 feet (2,560 meters). Some guests may feel mild effects. We recommend staying hydrated, taking it easy on your first day, and getting plenty of rest.
